NextMedia Buys Chuckie for $5.5 M

Pursuing its goal of clustering in small and medium markets, NextMedia Group has purchased Chuckie Broadcasting Co. for $5.5 million. Chuckie owns and operates four stations in Ardmore, Okla., serving northern Texas and parts of Oklahoma: KKAJ(FM), KYNZ(FM), KTRX(FM) and KVSO(AM). The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2003.
Skip Weller, head of NextMedia’s Radio Division, said the deal would complement its group in Sherman-Denison, Texas, and expand the company’s presence in the northern suburbs of Dallas. Pending the close of announced transactions, NextMedia owns and operates 55 radio stations in 13 markets. Doug Ferber of Starmedia was broker.
