The Association of Professional Radio Engineers is accepting nominations for the Second Annual APRE Engineering Achievement Award.

It will be presented at the annual NPR Labs/APRE Engineering Dinner on Friday, April 11 in Las Vegas.

Donald Creighton, senior vice president of technology for Minnesota Public Radio and American Public Media, received the award last year for his supervision of MPR’s broadcast and production center upgrade.

Also honored were Richard Cassidy, director of IT and New Media for WAMU(FM), Washington, and the late Wayne Hetrich, one of NPR’s 30 original employees in 1971.

The honor is to be awarded to a single individual for “outstanding contributions” to the art and/or science of radio engineering that have made a “significant impact on, or improvement in” the state of the public radio industry.

To suggest your favorite public radio engineer use the award nomination form.

The site also lists information about the 2008 Public Radio Engineering Conference. Registration is open.

Questions about the award process can be directed to Roger Karwoski via e-mail, karwoskir@missouri.edu.
