Non-Spot Revenue Was Bright Spot in an Otherwise Flat Year

U.S. commercial radio revenue increased 1% last year, according to RAB.

Only a 10% jump in non-spot dollars compared to 2005 kept overall revenue from being flat. National business grew 5%, local ad sales figures fell 1% and network radio decreased 2%.

In the fourth quarter of the year, grand total revenues grew 3% and non-spot dollars increased 12% compared to the same quarter a year earlier. National revenue grew 12%, local revenue remained flat in the quarter.

For just December, total revenue grew 1%. Non-spot revenue was up 8%. Combined local and national ad sales were flat. National grew 6% in December, local sales fell 1%.
