The Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Convention gets more ambitious each year. Scheduled for Aug. 9–11 at the Marriott Hotel in Hunt Valley, Md., the multimedia radio/TV/film event brings in increasingly better-known stars along with expanding the scope of its events each year.
Early announcements of expected guests include mother Partridge, Mr. Time Tunnel, Tarzan, the Green Hornet and Dennis the Menace — also known respectively as Shirley Jones, James Darren, Ron Ely, Van Williams and Jay North.
For radio diehards, once again the convention will feature “lost” radio program re-creations, live on stage. Familiar face Don Ramlow is helming a lost Tarzan radio episode and another script. He will be holding on-site auditions for some roles (paging Ron Ely!).
The Gotham Radio Players are also back again for their re-creation of a Golden Age of Radio script. And as usual there’ll be plenty of memorabilia dealers.
There will also be a charity auction for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Ironically, Sherry Jackson, “Terry Williams,” one of Danny Thomas’ daughters from “Make Room for Daddy,” will be one of the celebrities at the convention.
