NPO Makes DAB+ Headway

The rollout of the public broadcaster’s DAB+ network is reportedly ahead of schedule

Thanks in large part due to beneficial weather, NPO’s rollout of DAB+ has been able to move ahead at a faster pace than expected, reports Radio.nl. In recent weeks, DAB+ transmitters in Ittervoort/Hunsel, Breda, Sittard, Oostburg, Terneuzen and Groenlo have been turned on.

With the completion of DAB+ transmitters in Sittard, Ittervoot/Hunsel and Breda, rollouts in the provinces of Limburg and North Brabant have been concluded. The Oostburg and Terneuzen transmitters, meanwhile, are boosting DAB+ performance in the Zeeland province, as is the Groenlo transmitter in Achterhoek, says the article.

NPO expects to continue the expansion into the provinces of Groningen, Friesland, Noord-Holland, Zeeland, Gelderland and Overijssel.

Phase three of NPO’s DAB+ rollout was originally expected to be finished in 2017, but at this pace the broadcaster says it expects to complete the rollout by the end of February 2016, barring weather and other elements.
