Dutch public broadcaster NPO is currently carrying out trials in an effort to improve broadcasts, says Radio.nl. The first test is of higher data rates for audio streams, while the second is a test of slideshows transported in an integrated stream.
To date, NPO has broadcast its DAB+ channels with a bandwidth of 64 kbps. It is now testing the broadcasts of its Radio 2 station using an increased bandwidth of 96 kbps.
The broadcaster is also testing a different way of broadcasting slideshows other than sending them as a separate data stream. Instead, it is using an integrated slideshow, which it says, is more efficient and allows all DAB+ radios to be able to make use of the data stream.
