NPR Among Winners of Webby Awards

The 11th annual Webby Awards named the winner for Best Radio Site of the Year, along with winners in more than 100 categories from more than 60 countries.

The 11th annual Webby Awards named the winner for Best Radio Site of the Year, along with winners in more than 100 categories from more than 60 countries.

The winner in the category of Best Radio Site of the Year is BBC Radio 1, www.bbc.co.uk/radio1.

NPR podcasts won “Best Podcasts” from the Webby’s International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences membership; and “Best Radio” in the public competition. Separately, the NPR on-air commentary, podcast and blog, “My Cancer,” created and written by journalist Leroy Sievers, was named for a special Official Honoree recognition.

Winners will be recognized at a ceremony on June 5 in New York City. The list can be found at www.webbyawards.com.

Additionally, more than 400,000 votes were cast by people for their favorite sites, videos and ads in The Webby People’s Voice Awards presented by Verizon. NPR won in the radio and podcasting categories.
