APM’s “Marketplace Morning Report” to become part of NPR’s “Morning Edition”

Two public radio program producers and distributors — National Public Radio and American Public Media — plan to coordinate efforts so that APM’s “Marketplace Morning Report” will become part of NPR’s “Morning Edition.”

The change is planned to begin this fall.

Washington-based NPR and St. Paul, Minn.-based APM say the move signals a new era of collaboration in public radio. NPR News SVP Margaret Low Smith calls “Marketplace Morning Report,” “a natural complement to ‘Morning Edition’’s in-depth national and international coverage” while Marketplace VP/Executive Producer Deborah Clark called the move “a positive reflection of our industry’s future.”

Many public radio stations already include “Marketplace Morning Report” during their broadcasts of “Morning Edition,” according to both companies.
