The National Religious Broadcasters has issued statements critical of the Internal Revenue Service in the wake of revelations that it had targeted conservative groups seeking nonprofit status for extra scrutiny.
Dr. Frank Wright, head of the religious broadcast group sent a letter to House and Senate leaders saying that, “Pernicious targeting of faith-based organizations by any state actor must not be tolerated.”
The letter noted that several of its members may have been targeted themselves. Another release from the group outlined incidents involving Family Talk Action, a religious program producer. The release specifically named an IRS agent and included comments, questions and information requests that the agent made that FTA felt were not justified.
