As reported here earlier, the National Radio Systems Committee has released
an educational document about surround, “Broadcasting Surround Sound Audio over IBOC Digital Radio – Issues and Resources for FM Broadcasters.”
Now the full report is available online.
The document is intended to help FM radio broadcasters as they consider how to enhance their IBOC digital radio broadcast services beyond two-channel stereo audio to accommodate multichannel or surround sound capability.
The NRSC does not make specific recommendations in the document, but lets the pages serve as a guide to the numerous issues that FM broadcasters will encounter in such a transition.
