NRSC Wraps Up Revised IBOC Standard Changes; Plans April Vote

The group has also updated its citations of the Ibiquity reference documents since some of these have been updated.

The NRSC plans to vote on an updated IBOC standard at its April 12 meeting in Las Vegas.

The Digital Radio Broadcasting Subcommittee is wrapping up the finishing touches on NRSC-5-B.

The most important change included in NRSC-5-B is the incorporation of the new FM mask, which was submitted by Ibiquity to the FCC in July 2006.

The group has also updated its citations of the Ibiquity reference documents since some of these have been updated. The overarching goal of the exercise is to make the document easier to read and more consistent “terminology-wise,” sources tell me.

Also, the NRSC will reference a new Web page on the Ibiquity site which was developed in conjunction with the revision to the NRSC Standard. Look for “Supplemental Information” links at the top of the NRSC-5 Web page.

The group last revised the IBOC standard in 2005.
