The National Telecommunications Information Administration is looking at how ultra-wide-band devices could be authorized without interfering with other communications systems, including conventional radio receivers.
NTIA plans to develop measurement procedures to determine whether UWB devices would interfere with receivers, including those for navigation and public safety.
The FCC is also considering permitting the operation of UWB devices (see RW, June 21, p. 2).
