Omnia Irresistible for Virgin

Omnia Irresistible for Virgin

Following an AM upgrade project, Virgin Radio now has a total of 38 Omnia digital audio processors in operation across the United Kingdom.
Virgin first used the Omnia on its 105.8 MHz London FM service early in 1998. As part of an upgrade of its AM sites last year, Virgin placed an order for a further 34 Omnia units.
According to Virgin Chief Engineer Alex Lakey, all Virgin medium-wave sites, from 100 W to 100 kW, now use Omnia audio processing.
“We worked closely with Frank Foti and the folks at Cutting Edge, as well as U.K. distributor sbs, to perfect the hardware and software on the AM units,” Lakey said.
Virgin also uses Omnia processors for its DAB service on the Digital One national multiplex, as well as for its satellite and Internet audio streams.
