OMT to Demo Content Substitution Software

OMT Technologies Inc. plans to demonstrate a content substitution software system for streaming Internet broadcasts at NAB 2001, which begins this weekend.
OMT’s product, called iMediaAdCast, features content substitution, track titling data, and offers simultaneous Internet stream encoding with both Real Networks and Microsoft Windows Media technology.
“Broadcasters are under pressure from advertising agencies and talent unions to either cover up certain commercials or stop streaming entirely,” said Scott Farr, president of OMT Technologies Inc., noting that several broadcasters have already stopped Internet streaming due to rights concerns.
“Ad insertion technologies do not address content substitution issues because commercials are inserted into the web stream without regard to programming and the technology doesn’t interact with the content source. The iMediaAdCast software integrates with existing broadcast automation systems, substitutes content at the source where detailed information about the content is available,” Farr said.
