StoryCorps, the national initiative to document everyday history, arrives in Louisville, Ky., on Sept. 27 as part of its cross-country tour.

It’s a project of Sound Portraits Productions, set up in partnership with NPR and the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.

It launched in 2003; since then StoryCorps has visited 66 cities in 43 states, and collected some 10,000 stories.

The mobile StoryBooth, an Airstream trailer with a recording studio, will be parked at the Kentucky Center from Sept. 27 to Nov. 3. StoryCorps hopes to collect more than 100 interviews in Louisville, where it is partnering with NPR station WFPL(FM), which will air a selection of the stories. Selected segments also may air nationally on NPR’s “Morning Edition.”

Interviews are arranged by appointment. For information visit www.storycorps.net.
