O’Shaughnessy Gets a Nod From Mount Saint Mary’s

College salutes the outspoken broadcaster and New Yorker

Bill O’Shaughnessy is about to become a doctor.

Before you call his office for a prescription, though, note that Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, N.Y., will hold its commencement this weekend and confer the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters on him.

O’Shaughnessy is president and owner of WVIP(FM) and WVOX(AM) in New Rochelle. He’s a past president of the New York State Broadcasters Association and former chairman of public affairs for the National Association of Broadcasters.

He’s also known for his vocal support of broadcasters’ First Amendment rights. He’s working on his fourth book.

The commencement speaker that day will be Jack Abernethy, CEO of Fox Television Stations, who also will receive an honorary degree.
