Oxenford Experiences FM on His BlackBerry

Says changing stations is fast on his Q10

In January we wrote that Blackberry was making an update available for its BlackBerry Z30, Q10 and Q5 models that includes FM capability.

Now, at least one radio person has shared his update experience.

Wilkinson Barker Knauer attorney David Oxenford says that AT&T just sent him the software update for his Blackberry Q10 and he’s been trying it out.

“The reception is great in and around D.C.,” he tells Radio World, even with using headphones or earbuds acting as the antenna.

He went online for advice on how to turn on the radio, and discovered the radio tab under the Music icon on the touchscreen, he says in his blog. “The screen is populated with the frequencies of radio stations that are in your area. Tap on the frequency, and the local station immediately starts playing.”

Oxenford says it’s “amazing” how quickly the radio changed stations. “You hit the frequency tab for a new station, and the new station immediately starts playing. The change from one station to another is in less than the blink of an eye.”
