Pacifica Radio Posts $3.75 Million in Pledges

The five-station Pacifica Radio network posted strong winter on-air fundraising drives, registering more than $3.75 million in listener pledges. Pacifica Radio Executive Director Dan Coughlin said the results were better than expected.
“Pacifica’s independent, community-based news and arts programming continues to attract listeners, especially around our Presidential election coverage and our international reporting on Iraq and Haiti,” said Coughlin.
Pacifica says the winter fund-drive totals are the second highest in its 55-year history, down from last year’s winter drive of $4.13 million during the run-up to the Iraq war. In line with public broadcasting trends, the non-commercial network had been expecting a downturn from last year’s numbers.
Here’s the breakdown by station:
WBAI(FM), New York – $1.06 million
KPFA(FM), Berkeley – $1.02 million
KPFK(FM), Los Angeles – $900,000
WPFW(FM), Washington – $470,000
KPFT(FM), Houston – $302,000
