Panasonic Ships HD Radios

Now consumers have a choice of two HD Radio receiver manufacturers.
Following up on its intentions revealed during the recent CES convention, Panasonic has shipped HD Radios to retailers. The MXE CQ-CB9900U CD receiver has an HD Radio tuner, meaning listeners don’t need a second box installed in the trunk or under the rear seat. It plays CDs, MP3 and WMA files on disc, and has an auxiliary input in case you want to add another listening option.
Features include a motorized, detachable faceplate; spectrum analyzer; and 5-volt front, rear and subwoofer preamp outputs. The radio lists at just under $1,000 in the Crutchfield Catalog.
Kenwood has had HD Radios available since January.
