Pandora: 70% Listen Using Mobile Device

Service available across 18 automotive brands

More than 70% of listening hours to Pandora originate from a mobile device like a smartphone or a tablet.

That’s according to the Internet audio service, which now says it has more than 150 million users in the U.S.

Pandora has seen its automotive partnerships expand, saying that 25 automotive brands and aftermarket companies offer the personalized Internet audio service via a smartphone connection. There are 40 models now at dealerships offering the connection, with 10 more expected in 2012, according to the company.

Mobile advertising is growing for Pandora as well. Mobile ad revenues grew from $25 million in fiscal year 2011 to more than $100 million in fiscal year 2012, according to Pandora.

Pandora President/CEO Joe Kennedy said the company’s continued growth shows that personalized radio is fundamentally changing the way people listen to music.

The company announced listener metrics as of April, we reported.
