Pandora Adds Listeners Overseas

Net radio source says audience grows in Australia, New Zealand

Pandora Australia and New Zealand say they have two million registered listeners, effectively doubling their base in less than 12 months.

The Internet audio service launched in both countries in December 2012.

Pandora ANZ Managing Director Jane Huxley says radio is evolving, propelled by consumers and technology. The key to Pandora’s success is offering listeners and interactive and social experience, she says, something NextRadio proponents are pushing for traditional radio.

“We know and celebrate the fact that every individual has their own unique relationship with music. Our business is based on getting to know our listeners likes and dislikes so that we can continue to spin track after track of music we know they will love,” says Huxley.

Pandora claims it attracts two new registered users across Australia and New Zealand every second.
