A new survey by Pandora reveals how Americans prefer to listen to Christmas and holiday-themed music during the winter season.
Nearly nine in 10 Americans responded that they cannot celebrate holidays without the right music. Pandora says that listeners have enjoyed over 2 billion holiday tracks on the service since November.
The survey found that, for those that like to entertain, holiday music is a must to set the mood. Nearly a quarter of respondents believe that the music is more important than the menu — three quarters tend to select artists such as Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra or Nat King Cole, as opposed to new releases.
“We have 22 different holiday genre stations specifically curated to effortlessly ignite the holiday spirit for our more than 62 million active monthly listeners,” Pandora Chief Marketing Officer Simon Fleming-Wood said, adding that Christmas radio is the service’s most popular genre.
