Paragon Ragtime Orchestra on the Air

Specialty performer airs Feb. 24 on WWFM Classical Network

The Paragon Ragtime Orchestra specializes in late 19th and early 20th century American music — notably musical theater, silent film scores and vintage dance.

On Sunday night, Feb. 24, starting around 6 p.m., the group will have a program on the WWFM Classical Network. According to a release, the program will be part of the “Dress Circle” program.

The theme will be “The Sounds of Black Manhattan,” a focus on black composers and musicians of late 19th and early 20th century New York. Paragon has two albums devoted to the works.

The program will also be available on Internet streaming. Paragon founder Rick Benjamin will also provide historical context to the piece.
