Participants Await Word on Automation Lawsuit Delay

Case is being heard in federal district court

We may find out soon whether broadcasters will win a postponement in that hard-disk automation patent infringement lawsuit.

According to a source involved in the case, the court hearing scheduled for this week took place but there’s been no decision so far on the defendants’ request for a stay.

Oral arguments took place in front of Judge Leonard P. Stark on Oct. 27. Observers believe a decision on the stay request could come as early as next week.

The patent infringement suit against several broadcast ownership groups is being heard in U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware.

Legal observers think the case brought by Mission Abstract Data is likely to be delayed now that a federal patent examiner has overturned a number of key claims in the underlying patents.
