Passion Sticks to Commitment

Recent programming on DAB and Internet station Passion for the Planet clearly exemplifies its environmental orientation.

Recent programming on DAB and Internet station Passion for the Planet clearly exemplifies its environmental orientation.

Talk show interviewees during the month August included Tony Juniper, head of the environmental movement Friends of the Earth. The station also assessed the “green” credentials of new British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and discussed why major banking group HSBC is putting money into “being green.”

Set up by radio professionals Chantal Cooke and Kenny Stevens, Passion for the Planet offers a content mix of health/environment interviews and features along with world and new age music.

In addition to careful recycling and the use of low-energy light bulbs in its offices, Passion for the Planet built and decorated its studios using recycled and re-used materials wherever possible. It also soundproofed and acoustically treated its studios with naturally grown hemp and based the design on feng shui principles.
