‘Phishing’ Sites Try to Snag FCC Reg Fee Payments

Watch out for fake commission fee sites.

Someone’s trying to scam the Federal Communications Commission out of some money.

Fletcher, Heald & Hildreth attorney Harry Cole, who’s also a Radio World contributor, said his firm advised the commission this week that it found two fake Internet sites attempting to misdirect those licensees trying to pay their regulatory fees online. The fees are due Sept. 25.

These “non-government Web sites are attempting to collect financial information,” the agency said in a notice. The FCC’s Inspector General is looking into it.

The FCC urges regulatory fee payers to make any Internet payments directly through the commission’s authorized Internet site.

Sorry. No data so far.
