Pilot Hero to Keynote RAB

Pilot Hero to Keynote RAB

Hero and former airline pilot Captain Al Haynes will deliver the opening keynote on Friday morning at RAB2002, the Radio Advertising Bureau’s Sales, Management and Leadership Conference, at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Feb.7 – 10.
Captain Haynes will reveal how training, planning and teamwork helped him and his crew perform a remarkable feat that saved the lives of 184 people.
On July 19, 1989, Captain Haynes piloted United Airlines Flight 232 to the successful crash landing in Sioux City, Iowa, after engine failure rendered the craft only marginally controllable. The majority of those onboard survived and Captain Haynes has attributed that success to “luck, communication, preparation, execution and cooperation.”
“This was the ultimate in crisis management,” stated RAB Executive Vice President, Meetings, Lindsay Wood Davis. “By opening RAB2002 with Captain Haynes, we hope to set a tone that conveys the importance of being prepared.”
RAB President and Chief Executive Officer Gary Fries added, “With training and planning, the Radio industry will navigate through the current turbulent economic cycle and be positioned for the growth that will follow the return of consumer confidence. Businesses that do not set a course of action risk failure.”
