Plans Underway for NextRadio Beta Ad Launch

NYMRAD to “unveil” NextRadio to members, advertisers, clients

Plans are underway for an eight-city beta marketing test to begin soon for NextRadio.

Emmis says 40 of the new HTC One smartphones with the embedded NextRadio app have been handed out to DJs at stations owned by 14 radio groups so they can talk up the experience and the features on-air, online and on social media.

While much will be said at the Radio Show next week about the NextRadio App along with Sprint’s and broadcaster’s efforts concerning the phone, the promotion will continue beyond Orlando.

The New York Market Radio Association plans a NextRadio “unveiling” to the advertiser world as part of Advertising Week in New York City. The Sept. 26 event is set for Times Center at 5 p.m.

NYMRAD is inviting its members, radio advertisers and their agencies to attend to learn more about what could make radio “more visual, engaging and interactive,” according to the invitation. Emmis Chair/President/CEO Jeff Smulyan, Sprint VP Products & Logistics David Owens and New York Times tech columnist David Pogue are slated to speak. On-air talent is scheduled to appear as well.
