Police Identify Man Who Jumped From N.J. Tower

Elizabeth resident became stuck in nearby building after fall

New Jersey police have identified the man who died after jumping from a radio station tower.

Police ruled the death of 60-year-old Pedro Macias of Elizabeth, N.J., a suicide, reports the Asbury Park Press.

He climbed a tower Monday night for WWZY(FM), Long Branch, N.J., and died after falling from the 400-foot tower and landing on the roof of a nearby commercial building, police said.

The condemned building is vacant and unsafe, so specially-trained firefighters had to cut a hole in a wall to retrieve the body, according to the account.
