As the FCC convened its hearing on localism this week, a coalition of groups released a poll that purports to show strong public concern over media consolidation.
The poll from the Media and Democracy Coalition also shows respondents support retaining the rule that prevents one company from owning both a station and a newspaper in most markets. The public prefers and has greater trust in local news sources, which are threatened under consolidation, according to the results.
