FCC Chairman Kevin Martin said the agency is targeting the fourth quarter for a decision on the proposed merger of the satellite radio companies.
Speaking to reporters after the monthly meeting on Tuesday, the chairman said the agency is trying to meet its target of reviewing mergers within 180 days, Bloomberg reported. If that timeframe holds, the commission would finish its review of whether the proposed XM-Sirius merger serves the public interest in December.
The DOJ is also reviewing the transaction and has not set a timeframe for completion.
