Deirdre Blackwood has joined Arbitron as senior vice president, corporate communications.
She replaces Thom Mocarsky, who is leaving the company.
Blackwood reports to Alton Adams, Arbitron’s new executive vice president and chief marketing officer.
Blackwood is charged with consolidating the corporate communications group, which includes marketing communications, public relations and investor relations.
She most recently was vice president, corporate communications and investor relations with TerraStar Networks Inc., a satellite-terrestrial telecommunications firm in Reston, Va. Prior to TerraStar, Blackwood was a director in the Washington office of Burson-Marsteller. Additionally, she served as press secretary for Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., as well as a senior staffer for former Senator Alfonse D’Amato, R-N.Y.
