Pravasi Bharathi Broadcasting Corp. has announced that it intends to launch “Pravasi Bharathi 810 AM” in November, which, according to the broadcaster, will make it the first Malayalam digital radio station in the world and will use the Digital Radio Mondiale standard.
The station will use a 200 kW AM/DRM simulcast transmitter from Nautel.
According to a story on the Emirates 24/7 News website, Pravasi Bharathi 810 was originally aiming for a May 2014 launch of its digital radio station.
The Pravasi Bharathi Broadcasting Corp. is based in the United Arab Emirates.
