Programmer Don Kelly Joins Ibiquity

Ibiquity has hired program consultant and marketer Don Kelly to help stations market their HD Radio capabilities. Kelly joins the Ibiquity commercialization team as the broadcast strategic marketing manager to help stations promote HD Radio technology and further drive the HD Radio brand.
During his 25-year radio career, Kelly has worked in roles ranging from on air talent to program director, helping build stations from the ground floor in a variety of markets, such as KIOI in San Francisco and WRKS in New York City. Kelly has guided programming and marketing for dozens of major and medium market stations — including KPWR in Los Angeles and WQHT in New York — during nearly two decades as a consultant to many of the leading broadcast companies.
He has launched and developed Adult Contemporary, Rhythmic CHR and Urban formats in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia and San Francisco. He was also part owner and station manager of WJKS in Wilmington, Del.
In his new role with Ibiquity, Kelly will work with radio station program directors, promotions and sales personnel to create local awareness programs that highlight a station’s use of HD Radio technology and generate interest in the HD Radio brand.
He will also help stations develop nontraditional programming that uses HD Radio’s data capabilities, with the goal of enhancing a station’s value to its listeners and advertisers.
Kelly was named Billboard/Monitor consultant of the year in 1996 and served on the NAB Committee on Local Radio Audience Measurement during 1998 and 1999.
