Prometheus’ Wierski Promoted

Also, group creates LPFM promotional video

Julia Wierski joined the Prometheus Radio Project in October as its new director of development and communications.

According to the announcement, in 2010 she worked on encroachment notification for LPFMs, and more recently she worked with the organization’s Policy Director Brandy Doyle as a campaign associate.

Wierski’s qualifying experience includes 10 years as a DJ and consultant at WPRB(FM) in Princeton, N.J. She also worked as an associate producer for WHYY(FM) in Philadelphia and volunteered for WFMU(FM) in Jersey City, N.J.

As evidence of her interest and expertise, Wierski has made her own crystal radio set and created audiotape archives. She grew up in the Philadelphia area, and has been a radio enthusiast since childhood and is a member of the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia.

Another Prometheus Radio Project news, Prometheus volunteer and video segment producer Karas Lamb recently produced a short video called “Let’s Amplify!” to raise awareness and excitement about involvement in community media and LPFM.

“LPFM could have a great hand in helping to … preserve lots of things about American musical culture that are underappreciated and potentially in danger of being forgotten. This is especially powerful when you consider the power music has had in the past to encourage and support political movements. There is definitely a bridge that can be created,” Lamb said.
