New PSAs are out to help listeners prepare for emergencies.
The NAB said nine PSAs were created by the Ad Council and focus on ways to prepare for and respond to acts of terrorism and other emergencies. The announcements encourage parents to develop a family communications plan.
The announcements are the result of a project by the NAB, the Department of Homeland Security and the Advertising Council.
In making the announcement, NAB President/CEO Eddie Fritts again described broadcasters as “first responders”: “Local radio and television stations are uniquely positioned as first responders in times of crisis, and Americans know they can rely on broadcasters to keep them informed in the event of an emergency. NAB encourages all broadcasters to carry these important public service announcements.”
