CPB has awarded Public Radio Capital a contract to conduct the first phase of its new Station Renewal Project.
PRC helps noncoms plan, finance and acquire new public radio channels. The organization said it will conduct performance needs assessments of public stations selected for the CPB-funded program, aimed at helping strengthen stations through operational makeovers.
PRC will work with 10 chosen stations over six months to evaluate their operations, including governance and licensee issues; station management and leadership; programming strategy and execution; and fundraising and organizational capacity.
CPB thinks public radio can increase its public service by improving the performance of certain underperforming stations. It launched the project June 30 with an RFP to solicit stations to participate. The deadline for applications is Aug. 8.
