Qmusic and Joe To Begin DAB+ Broadcasts

Will start broadcasting via Norkring’s DAB+ network in Flanders in September

Bart Bosmans is CEO of Norkring Belgium.

Medialaan, parent company of commercial radio stations Qmusic and Joe, has signed an agreement with network operator Norkring Belgium to allow both stations to broadcast via Norkring’s DAB+ network in Flanders.

The partnership, which runs until 2024, lets Qmusic and Joe begin diffusing their programs on the DAB+ network in September. The stations will also continue their FM broadcasts and were granted, along with Nostalgie, an FM-license extension of four years to help orepare for their transition to DAB+.

“For DAB+ in Flanders and Brussels this is a major step,” said Bart Bosmans, CEO of Norkring Belgium. “With Norkring, we have been working for three years to put DAB+ on the map — all this work, and the government’s efforts, in combination with the excellent collaboration with Medialaan led to the current agreement to strengthen the DAB+ family. It’s a great thing, especially for the progress of DAB+ in Flanders.”

Bosmans adds that Norkring continues to expand its network to reach full coverage in the Flemish region before September 2018.
