Internet/e-commerce increased its lead as the number one radio advertising category in New York in the first quarter this year. With $27 million in sales, the category grew by 434% over the same period last year. The Internet/e-commerce represented more than 15% of the NYC radio advertising total.
The second biggest radio ad category, automotive companies, spent $20.5 million in the first quarter – an almost 43% increase over the previous year. Automotive companies represent almost 12% of the radio advertising in NYC.
Rounding out the top-5 were television stations and networks, up 51%, with $12.6 million in sales; communications/cellular/public utilities, up 20% with $10.0 million and Health care, up nearly 40% with $6.8 million in radio advertising in the first quarter this year.
