As RW first reported this week, the FCC’s so-called final rules authorizing IBOC go into effect Sept. 14.
Industry engineers involved with digital operations had been watching to see when the rules would be published and thus when an official “effective” date would be announced.
Among other changes, the rules authorize AM stations to go IBOC at night, FMs to multicast and use dual antennas without special permission.
