“Journaal,” the breakfast program of the Netherlands-based public-service broadcaster Radio 1, has made it to the top of the ratings.
With a share of 13.3 percent – representing 370,000 listeners – in the November/December 2000 survey, “Journaal” beat previous leader “Stenders Vroeg Op,” the Radio 3FM show, by just over 1 percent. Music-based station Sky Radio ranked third with 11.4 percent.
The Radio 2 breakfast show, “Ontbijtradio,” maintained its 9.8-percent share, staying just ahead of Radio 538 morning show “Evers Staat Op.”
The success of “Journaal” is due in part to the move of Edwin Evers, who formerly hosted the 3FM morning show, to Radio 538. Evers took part of his regular audience to the new station, whose signal covers about 60 percent of the Dutch population.
