“Radio Central” Is Born

California Historical Radio Society gets their building

The California Historical Radio Society has been hunting for a permanent home for its collection of goodies since their previous rented home in Berkeley, Calif., was sold.

After a massive fundraising operation it has secured a new home, dubbed “Radio Central,” in nearby Alameda, Calif. This was announced on CHRS’ 40th anniversary.

But … the building needs some work and funds are still needed to build the museum itself. Naturally, CHRS is looking for donations and help.

The building itself is over 100 years old and apparently started out as a local telephone company exchange, so communications is in its blood, or beams.

However, congratulations are in order for the new digs.
