Radio Energy Plans FM Switch Off for 2019

Transmitter group already prioritizes DAB+

According to Schweiz am Sonntag (“Switzerland on Sunday”), Radio Energy CEO Dani Büchi said that the media company plans to discontinue its FM transmissions in 2019, switching to all digital broadcasts.

It appears that Radio Energy is attempting to spur a general discussion about Switzerland’s switchover date by declaring its own plans.

In 2017, the Federal Council will determine whether the country will move to all-DAB+ radio, an Ofcom spokesperson told a newspaper.

In addition, in the area surrounding Bern, five new digital radio stations now broadcast nationally. By July 2014, Chairman Matthias Haggeman also said Basel Radio Basilisk will disseminate its content using a digital distribution channel.
