Andres Ilves is the new director of Radio Farda. He is director of Radio Free Afghanistan and will continue in that post as well until a replacement is found.
Radio Farda was launched in December to broadcast news and other programming in Persian to younger audiences in Iran. It is a collaboration between Voice of America and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.
Jeff Trimble had been serving as acting director of Radio Farda. He goes back to his job as director of policy and strategic planning at RFE/RL, a spokeswoman said.


SMS Is a Hit at Radio Farda

The U.S.-funded, Persian-language broadcaster launched a text messaging service for Iranians and said it is getting comments from "hundreds of listeners on subjects ranging from politics to music to jokes."
