The month of March brought an end to radio’s 12 months of sales increases.
According to the RAB, which tracks U.S. radio sales, local revenue fell 3% compared to the same month last year; and national was up 4%, which works out to a 2% decline in overall sales in March. The industry had enjoyed a year of increases until March.
The first quarter overall was positive, with overall sales up 4% compared to the same quarter last year. National-only was up 8% and local up 2% in the quarter.
