Radio Markets questioned

Radio Markets questioned

FCC Chairman Bill Kennard is urging his colleagues to re-define radio markets. Commissioners Susan Ness and Gloria Tristani agree. Ness said that a deal such as the Clear Channel/AMFM merger results in high levels of concentration.
Commissioners Harold Furchtgott-Roth and Michael Powell disagree and say it’s not time to re-vamp radio ownership rules.
Kennard also says he intends to fill out his full commission term, to June 2001, whether or not he remains chairman.
