Radio Mercury Awards Debut Online Registration

The 2004 Radio-Mercury Awards, recognizing excellence in creative radio, will kick off its call for radio commercial entries on Jan. 1. The competition awards cash prizes to the creators of the best radio commercial in three categories: general, Spanish-language and station-produced, all of which are eligible for the $100,000 grand prize.
Additionally, the Radio-Mercury Student Award, which is already underway, will grant $2500 to the winning college or university.
This year’s competition marks the debut of automated, on-line entry registration on the Mercury web site. Commercials can be uploaded as MP3 files, or mailed on a CD, DAT or cassette. Entry fee is $100 per commercial, and PSAs and student entries are $30 each. Entries must be received by Feb. 27, 2004, and must have aired for the first time during the 2003 calendar year on a commercially licensed United States radio station.
The awards ceremony will be held at a luncheon on June 9 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City. For registration information, visit www.radiomercuryawards.com.
