Radio Netherlands Worldwide is creating a digital Historical Audio Archive of the Dutch foreign-service broadcaster’s output.
According to a post on the RNW “Media Network” blog, RNW is looking for copies of programs from the 1940s and 1950s distributed in North America on 16-inch discs by the Netherlands Information Bureau in New York.
The discs were produced in the United States and/or Canada, and few made their way back to the archives. RNW hopes to find copies of the discs so that they can be digitized and preserved. If any of these discs are gathering dust in a record library, RNW hopes the owners will contact the Historical Audio Archive project.
