Radio Netherlands continues to broadcast on former BBC short-wave frequencies to North America and has decided to expand its regular schedule to North America as of
July 15th, using some of the former BBC frequencies.
Director General Lodewijk Bouwens stated, “If people write that they are immensely grateful for the programs that you broadcast, you should take that as a heart-warming compliment to all the program producers at Radio Netherlands”.
Radio Netherlands took over the frequencies vacated by the BBC July 1.
The expansion of the shortwave transmissions involves 5965 kHz from 1030-1225 UTC for eastern North America, and 15220 kHz at 1430-1625 UTC for western North America. These are in addition to the existing evening transmissions.
