Emmis to develop Internet ‘TV stations’ for two Chicago stations

Emmis is expanding its footprint in the area of online video.

It has signed a deal with Internet media company Gen2Media to develop Internet TV stations for Emmis’ Chicago properties Q101 WKQX(FM) and The Loop 97.9 WLUP(FM).

The content of the stations will include in-studio interviews, music videos and special events such as performances.

Emmis Vice President for Branded Entertainment Benjamin Finley said in the announcement that the vendor’s video publishing platform and Smart Content Management System have proven effective at helping Emmis to “materially deepen and enrich our engagement with our radio brands’ audiences through the delivery of highly interactive and experiential online video entertainment.”

He added that Gen2’s ad platform is helping Emmis to attract “much more meaningful ad spending” from both local and national advertisers.

Gen2Media has developed similar Internet TV stations for Emmis properties in New York City and Los Angeles.
